The car companies usually release concept cars each year at numerous events show car. These cars are not for sale but for display only, and many are outrageous and incredible design with futuristic technology. Although many may not realistic, they give us a peek into the future. Some companies even have competition, where students can submit their ideas and sketches. Building a concept vehicle is a great opportunity for a designer to really let go and extremely creative.

Many cars in the history of the automobile were actually inspired by the concept car. For example, General Motors, the Sabre is a concept vehicle that was designed by Harley Earl in the fifties. It was to introduce a 12-volt electric-and eight-cylinder engine for General Motors.
